Would you like to lead a team on new product development that will set industry standards?
For this you will be expected to deliver complex Electromagnetic Design solutions whilst collaborating and developing results in the new product development lifecycle
Salary & Benefits
£60,000 to £75,000, private health care, five weeks holiday per year, pension, flexi-time, relocation allowance and company bonus.
Opportunity
Your primary focus will be on the electromagnetic and thermal design, analysis, optimisation and testing, you will be empowered to take accountability for technical delivery, cost, timing and other key programme metrics within a world class engineering development research facility
Responsibilities & Duties
- Conduct feasibility studies and develop high-level designs for electrical machines
- Collaborate with the commercial teams to generate new designs & opportunities
- Detailed electromagnetic and thermal designs of electrical equipment and machines
- Degree and or PHD in Mechanical Engineering or higher
- Thermal modelling of electrical equipment and machines
- Electromagnetic Designs of permanent magnet switched & synchronous reluctance, induction etc
- Electromagnetic design for high-volume applications (e.g. automotive, aerospace, industrial or similar)
- Knowledge of power electronics/inverters and their application at system level (nice to have)
- Correlating simulations with experimental results to improve performance
- Knowledge of vehicle powertrain systems
- Hands on experience of testing motors in a laboratory environment
- Insulation system design appropriate for battery voltages (nice to have)
- Finite element analysis techniques (FMEA)
- Proficient in 2D & 3D FEA modelling for electrical machines (e-g Motor-cad, Ansys, opera)
- Demonstrate that designs are robust, cost effective and fit for purpose
- Development of design verification test plans for electrical systems machines (nice to have)
- Liaise with key suppliers, customers and engineering centres around the world
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and design practices
- Familiarity with a range of winding topologies, magnet materials, etc
This position would suite an already established Electromagnetic Designer who now wants to take on more responsibility & involvement in an already established world class product & lead within the business.
